This is a great story about a boy who has to share with the class what he did on his summer vacation. In order to make his speech interesting, he uses his imagination to take him on a wild adventure with some cowboys.
How I Spent My Summer Vacation is written by Mark Teague. You can extend the tale with this response to reading activity:
Included is a summer themed writing activity and clip art for your students to customize their frame.
I’ll also teach you how to print on Post-it notes. I’ve provided the questions to ask during your Read Aloud time. You can print the notes and add them to the story. Great also for substitute teachers!
I’d love to know what are some of your favorite stories for the start of school Please let me know in the comment section below!
